X-ray microscope reveals 'solitons,' a special type of magnetic wave

An ultrafast camera coupled to a custom-built X-ray microscope at SLAC’s Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource allowed researchers to produce a six-frame “movie” of the soliton’s motion.
